Club Rules
All parents/carers are expected to read all of the following information before bringing your child for a trial. All parents/Guardians must familiarise themselves with the following club rules:
Dropping Off & Collecting Your Child
On arrival to Tilbury Hall please bring you child/children around the path on the left side of the hall (if coming from the carpark) and drop them off directly at the main hall doors.
- You must drop off and collect your child on time.
- If your child is going home with another child/ other family member the coaches must be informed to ensure safe disposal. We must have written proof from parents either by text or email if there is a change in who exactly is collecting the child.
- Parents/Guardians are responsible for their child until handed over to the coach at the start of the class. Children must not be left alone before the start of the class unless they are in the hall under a coaches supervision. Please note that any child that is more than 20 minutes late will not be able to participate in the class as they will have missed the warm-up which is crucial. This is for your own child’s safety, as they may injure themselves if they are not fully warmed up.
- Parents/ Guardians are expected to collect their children on time. If you know that you are going to be late collecting your child for any reason you must contact the club ASAP. On the other hand, if you know you must take your child out of the session early, you must also inform a coach (Preferably before the start of the session).
- Vehicles are parked in the carpark at the owner’s risk. Vehicles should never obstruct entrances or exits; you cannot park within the yellow line marked area. Double parking is not permitted. Only vehicles with a blue badge that is displayed clearly may use the 2 designated disabled bays. If there are no spaces available when you arrive, please leave the car park and find alternative parking on the road. Please be advised that there is a second entrance into the hall via a pathway from Mount Grace Road.
- Smoking and the taking of illegal substances is prohibited on the entire premises. In the warmer months if parents decide to wait outside on the grass by the hall, you must be respectful. Do not leave any litter and leave the area how you found it. Under absolutely no circumstances may anyone use the fenced off playground located outside the hall, this is strictly for use of the nursey only.
- Children are not allowed to leave the gym alone to meet their parents in the car park when being picked up. A coach must see who is collecting your child and be sure that they have been collected safely.
Waiting On Site
Pre-school Parents
All pre-school parents must remain on the premises throughout the session in case you need to take your child to the toilet. All parents/ carers are reminded to check that their child has had a drink and been to the toilet before the class begins as going during the session will waste their training time, disrupt the class and more importantly with pre-schoolers, possibly lead to the whole of the rest of the class asking to go. During the session all gymnasts are sent to the toilet by themselves, we cannot assist young children due to health and safety reasons. No participants are allowed to leave the hall without permission from a coach.
Unless a pre-school parent, the management staff of Tilbury Hall have very kindly agreed that in special circumstances a parent will be able to wait in the foyer. This is will only be allowed if the following rules are strictly adhered to, if they are not, we will have to retract this opportunity and no parents will be allowed on site at all.
– All adults (over the age of 18) must sign in and out by filling out the required information in the book found on the table in the foyer.
– If you have any other children with you, you must supervise them at all times, do not let them run around or touch anything.
– You must keep the volume minimal at all times.
– Anyone waiting inside is strictly prohibited from roaming anywhere else in the building besides the toilets.
– No food and drink may be consumed at any time while in the foyer.
– You must make sure the space left exactly how you found it when you arrived, do not leave any litter and put back any chairs that you may have used.
Please note that the supervision of children not participating in any gymnastics sessions is the sole responsibility of their parents or guardians. Children within the grounds must be supervised at all times. The club will not accept any liability for damage caused by or injury to children outside the gym hall. Under no circumstances are non gymnasts allowed onto any equipment or the mats in the hall as they are not members and do not have insurance. .
Medical Conditions / Disabilities
Some medical conditions require a parent / carer to stay at the session in case administration of medication is required e.g. Epipen. Any medical condition, learning disability or attention disorder must be disclosed online when signing up on LoveAdmin as well as British Gymnastics. Parents must also disclose any adaptations / risks which need to be considered. We are an inclusive club and try whenever possible, to accommodate participants with a disability who require one to one support. The viability of this will be assessed on a case by case basis. A carer will need to be provided, who will be led by the coaches within the class in order to provide adequate support to the gymnast. BG advocates that either a professional carer approved by the gymnast’s family or the gymnast’s parent or guardian should carry out the role of the carer. Downs Syndrome gymnasts will require an atlanto-atlas screening prior to starting the class.
Outdoor Shoes
Gymnasts and parents are reminded to keep any outdoor shoes off of the matting due to hygiene reasons.
Photography
Parents are not allowed to take photos/videos of your child/children training. This is part of British Gymnastics policy for Safeguarding Children. The reason for this is because the photo could have other children in the background. If you would like to photograph your child with a medal or certificate for example, please inform a coach and we can take them to the side so you can photograph them, perhaps on equipment, with no other gymnasts in the background
Valuables & Lost Property
Any items of value brought into the gym are done so at the users’ own risk. We cannot accept liability for any personal belongings left or damaged on site. While we cannot take responsibility for any property that is lost, we will keep anything we do find in a lost property box. Each week this will be left out for parents to look through. At the end of each term any unclaimed lost property will be donated to a charity shop. Please note that is property is lost just prior to the end of term, it will still be donated. We recommend that items of clothes / drink bottles etc are labelled with your child’s name to help us to return forgotten items.
Fire Exits
Fire exits should never be obstructed, and firefighting equipment must never be moved or interfered with. When collecting/dropping off your children from the back entrance of the hall, please bear in mind that these doors are a fire exit and make sure that they are not obstructed.
In the event of an emergency if you are inside the premises, you must evacuate immediately and congregate at the fire assembly point (Either in the main car park or outside the hut building located behind the hall.) All gymnasts will be escorted by the coaches to the assembly point at the back of the building, do not enter the building or try to find your child and take them separately from the group.
